"Torreon (Durango) Stone is the most popular "beige
colored" limestone in the world. Torreon Durango
is quarried throughout the Paredon & Vera Cruz mountain
ranges of Southern Mexico.
Torreon is a sedimentary stone that is formed in hot
springs and is composed of calcite calcium carbonate.
All limestone and travertine stones will have natural
cavities or pits visible in the stone that developed
when carbon dioxide bubbles became trapped during the
formation of the stone. These surface cavities are filled
prior to honing the slabs or tiles of these stones with
a colored cement paste to fill in these cavities.
Renaissance is the largest importer of Torreon (the
select grade of Durango) in the North East. Renaissance
offers Torreon Stone in polished, honed and tumbled
finishes. We stock a huge variety of sizes as well as
decorative pieces, mosaics and beautiful medallions.
We also offer the same select grade of Torreon in 3
CM slab material for vanities and other counter-tops.
